Meet our 2022 IHRAF International Fellows

Nora Gharyéni

Tunisia

A 23 years-old singer-songwriter and guitarist from Tunisia, Nora worked on a series of videos/podcasts with North African as well as international artists on the themes of human rights (democracy, liberty, culture, gender, dignity, justice..). The aim was to promote human rights through artists by conducting discussions, interviews, and focus groups which will be broadcast on an online platform.

Nora is passionate about spreading the indigenous North African culture around the world through music while promoting diversity, tolerance and human rights.

Grace Suge

Kenya

Grace produced a compilation of works on the theme of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). She will collect extensive material on this subject, which included visits to the communities in Kenya where the practice is more rampant. There are many adverse effects of FGM on the female gender and it is only when we get first hand victim accounts that we would raise our consciousness to the practice.

Grace is a native of Eldoret town in Kenya. She is a published author whose first novel, ‘Maasai in Red,’ explores the lives of the Ilmaasae nation living in the Maasai plains during the pre and post-colonial period in Kenya's history and aims to preserve their heritage for the future generations.

Unwholesome Cut

IHRAF International Fellow Grace Suge in Kenya brings us this vital reportage about Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) among the tribal Pokot people in the Kenyan bush.
