Our impact, thanks to your support.

We know it's important to you that your donation is being used effectively. It's important to us, too. Your money will go to support such programs as Afghan Women Speak, in conjunction with the European Network of Migrant Women; Direct Action support to artists-at-risk from Zimbabwe, Uganda, Egypt and other locales; publishing unknown, passionate writers from Libya, Malawi, Bulgaria, Russia, Yemen and other countries around the world, and using creativity and beauty as a soul force to help heal the world!

Highlights

Partnerships.

Broadened our reach through partnerships with Avant-Garde Lawyers; UNESCO-RILA; Society of Young Nigerian Authors; Yahad-in Unum; Wikitongues; the Arts House; Revolutionary Association of Women in Afghanistan; European Network of Migtant Women; SOTAMBE Documentary Film and Arts Festival, Zambia; and the Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Committee.

Direct Action.

Helped free Razack Buwaso Ibrahim from jail in Kenya and supported Mbizo Chirasha as he escaped from Mozambique to South Africa. Continue to promote Chinese Democracy activist Wei Jinghseng (who spent 18 years in jail in china before his release due to international pressure), Sowore Omoyele (Nigerian political activist, presidential candidate and torture survivor) and others.

Awards.

Initiated three new creative prizes: the Creators of Justice Literary Prize, Art of Unity Creative Award (in conjunction with Yahad-in Unum) and the #ENDSars Poetry Prize (in conjunction with the Society of Young Nigerian Writers). We have received submissions from 70+ countries around the world, and some from creators as young as six years old.

Publications.

Highlighted 60 new works on IHRAM Publishes. Published our first Anthology of Youth Creativity on Human Rights & Social Justice. Hired a new editor of IHRAM Publishes, and published our first books on our growing literary platform.

IHRAM cultivates a special community of genuinely passionate artists who use their foundations to address social injustice. Through our collaboration with IHRAM, the Aseemkala Initiative has co-produced NYC-based workshops, shows and connected with like-minded performers to create boundary-pushing work.

Thank you very much for a great year, the great fellowship opportunity, and the IHRAM DIRECT ACTION. The fellowship gave me a great opportunity to discover the levels of creativity I can reach. IHRAM has stood with my welfare, communication, talent and artistic career development since 2017.
