Meet our 2023 IHRAM International Fellows

Dr. Geraldine Sinyuy

Cameroon

Sinyuy Geraldine is a budding Cameroonian Anglophone writer resident in the North West Region of Cameroon. She has a Ph.D in Commonwealth Literature and is a scholar and teacher by profession. She has published Music in the Woods and Other Folktales and Coedited Poetry in Times of Conflict anthology where her poems depicting the plight of the internally displaced people in her country also feature. She is currently working on her first collection of poems entitled, The Spear Grass, and on her first novel. Sinyuy is an editor for the online monthly WordCity Journal.

During her Fellowship year, Dr. Sinyuy will interview some internally displaced persons in Bamenda and its environs and document their stories in a book form.

She will initiate a youth writing project (poetry, prose, short plays, drawings, and songs) where youths will express their views concerning the crisis and these will go into an anthology while the songs/videos can be fed into a YouTube channel for this cause.

Arva Ismail Piplodwala

India

Arva was born in 1992 in Pob Pune, India. Her current residence is Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Arva attained a Bachelor of Arts and Language with majors and specialization in English Literature from the University of Pune, India. The poet is interested in all fields of English literature, world history including its thesis writing, poem composition and recitation, short stories, novel, fiction works and narration, magazine and newspaper column writing, essays, paragraphs, speech writing, elocution and debating.

During her Fellowship year, Arva will create a project under the theme of Education and Women Empowerment.
